Deluxe 20th Anniversary Reissue of Legendary Album Watching from a Distance

Limited 4LP Boxset Includes Watching from a Distance & Watching from a Distance - Live at Roadburn

11th November 2025 Legendary British doom band WARNING present the Deluxe 20th Anniversary Reissue of Watching from a Distance, out January 16, 2026 on DLX 4LP Boxset/2LP/CD. Pre-order via Relapse here.

WARNING Guitarist and Vocalist Patrick Walker Comments on the 20th Anniversary Reissue:

"I'm delighted that the first reissues under the Relapse banner can now be pre-ordered. The presentation of this record, and the live iteration of it, is a truly special and honouring start to Warning's collaboration with the label.”

Watching from a Distance Deluxe Edition 4LP Boxset is limited to 535 copies and includes the Watching From A Distance (Reissue) 2LP, plus the Watching From A Distance - Live At Roadburn 2LP, all housed in a rigid clamshell box with silver lamination.

Led by guitarist and vocalist Patrick Walker, every moment of WARNING's Watching from a Distance feels monumental; the album is widely considered to be one of the most emotionally-driven and profoundly Doom Metal records.

From the onset, the album's eponymous opener crawls with a sombre melody that carries the emotional heft of WARNING's musings on love and longing. The band's classic track "Footprints" showcases Walker's ability to match his colossal riffs with a visceral, gut-wrenching vulnerability that was previously unheard of. Walker ruminates about his weakest moments; his vocal deliveries ranging from dejection to despair. The end result is truly "heavy" in every sense of the word - and a timeless take on the genre with thundering drums, lead-pipe backing bass, and swirling guitars.

Fast-forward to the present day, and WARNING's introspective sensibilities resonate as hard as they ever have. Watching from a Distance showcases a band and moment in time that honed in on what "Doom" could really be.

Warning announced for Roadburn 2026

11th November 2025

From the official Roadburn website:

As we type, Warning are in the midst of recording their first full-length studio album since Watching from a Distance; the album will be released in 2026, a mere twenty years after its predecessor. Roadburners who have been joining us for a while will know that their electrifying performance of their doom metal classic back in 2017 is not one easily forgotten.  We’re anticipating a similarly spellbinding performance when Warning return to Roadburn this coming April.

Led by Patrick Walker - whose gift for melodic, emotional delivery pairs exquisitely with mournful doom - Warning are a band that move at their own pace and can’t be lured into action a moment before they’re ready. It was with much patience that the 2017 show came into being, but with the band gearing up for a full album release in the Spring, the time felt right to welcome them back, as Warning mark their return to the live arena and a new era.

Patrick comments, “After our very special Watching from a Distance-set back in 2017, it's my honour to be bringing Warning back to the Roadburn stage for a new performance. It will be not just the twentieth anniversary of that album's release, but, more importantly, the cusp of the release of its long-awaited successor, and we'll be playing songs both old and new. It will again be one of my great privileges to be given the opportunity to perform at this beautiful and iconic festival, amongst so many people now dear to me, and where I'll always find the kindest audiences anywhere in the world. I look forward to seeing you all.”

29th July 2025 Relapse Records has today announced the signing of legendary British doom band, WARNING. The label will reissue albums from the band’s back catalogue and will release the first new WARNING material for twenty years.

Shortly after the release of their now-iconic album, Watching from a Distance, in 2006, WARNING disbanded and was dormant until reuniting in 2017 for a series of performances playing the album in full. This return resulted in a Live at Roadburn album which will be reissued alongside the original studio album, and their 1999 album, The Strength to Dream. The existing WARNING catalogue is available digitally now, with physical reissues to follow.

WARNING is spearheaded by Patrick Walker (also of 40 Watt Sun), who comments:

“After seventeen years of focusing my attention and energies on other endeavours, production is well underway on a new Warning album, and I'm pleased to find a home for the band with Relapse Records, who will be releasing this long-awaited follow-up to 'Watching from a Distance', as well as reissuing the band's back catalogue.

“Considering the quality and integrity of their releases, I feel privileged, and am grateful to Relapse, for honouring and preserving my past work, and for their trust and confidence in this next chapter of my musical journey.”

Writing for the new WARNING album is already underway, with recording scheduled for later in 2025. The band will perform at Damnation Festival in the UK this November, where they will debut new material alongside the Watching from a Distance album in its entirety.
